Wreck injures 3, damages house

A car slammed into a house in Selma on Friday after a head-on collision with another vehicle, leaving three people seriously injured.

The incident occurred about 3 p.m. at North Sumner Street and Poole Drive, said Selma Police Officer Isaiah Ruffin.

A Ford Taurus station wagon crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee before smashing into the house at 701 N. Sumner St., Ruffin said.

The driver of the Taurus, Thomas Hanna, 55, and his 12-year-old granddaughter were taken to Johnston County Memorial Hospital in Smithfield before they were airlifted to another facility, Ruffin said.

The driver of the Jeep, Narely Delgado, 21, also was treated at Johnston County Memorial Hospital.

Her infant son was in the back seat, but he was unharmed.

The patients' conditions were unavailable late Friday, but police said they each suffered serious injuries.

The wall of the house was pushed in but not significantly damaged, Ruffin said. Both cars were totaled.
