If you're flying for Thanksgiving, you'll see that the holiday hassle may be back. The drop in air travel after the 2001 terrorist attacks has reversed, and 37.2 million Americans will be in the skies this holiday week, the AAA predicts. That would exceed the 36.8 million who took U.S. commercial flights on the last pre-9/11 Thanksgiving, in 2000.

At Raleigh-Durham International Airport, 300,000 people are expected -- up 40,000 from last year. Gloria Oglesby of Kernersville went to Atlanta and flew with her grandchildren to RDU on Monday to beat the rush. "We were lucky; we got through security very quickly," she said. The children's mother will drive up and drive them back to Georgia on Sunday -- again, to avoid the madness.

Meanwhile, with gas prices also taking off since last year, Thanksgiving travel by car is expected to be down in North Carolina.
